Fellow Motorers. All of us at MINI USA want you to know that your discussions and comments about the windshield in the MINI have not gone unnoticed. Your comments and concerns are taken seriously.

We have posted offers to help on an individual basis, since this is the most appropriate way to address your individual needs, and we will continue to do so. Yet we have also taken steps to further ensure that the MINI is not only the most exhilarating but also the best product possible.

We are employing an improved urethane to seal and secure the windshield in place and have made changes to the glass itself to increase durability. Test results show that these steps will further enhance the already high quality of the MINI product.

Any windshield problem is best addressed by your authorized MINI dealership. Of course, we are always available at 1-866-ASK.MINI for a one-on-one conversation. Let's Motor!

So does this mean my widnshield with more pits on it than I can count will be taken care of?

What about a solution for all of the people dealing with stress cracks occuring on multiple windshields?

It's understandable that your working in private with individual owners. However a real substantive update to the ENTIRE community is needed. Not some non-commital piece of MINI cheerleading.

Uh huh. Went over there today with my new crack (same lower left location as countless other MINIs), and the SA immediately starts talking "rock chip" before she even sees it. Nevermind that it happened overnight in my garage. Of course there's a rough spot as you move a pen point over it... it's a crack (DOH!). Also nevermind that nine other cars (with very similar cracks) at this one dealership alone have been waiting WEEKS for backordered windshields, and in some cases these cracks are becoming safety issues.

Having said all that, I'll cool my jets and wait a reasonable amount of time for my replacement windshield to arrive. If MINI does the right thing and replaces it with a new (hopefully redesigned) windshield under warranty, then we're all cool. If we start any shenanigans with "rock chip" excuses and denied warranty claims, then I'm sure my insurance company (armed with REAMS of info about similar cracks from other MINI owners) will be wanting to talk with you.

These are the kinds of things that keep class action attorneys busy...
