Airbag Light Won't Reset, Error Code 0B

My 2002 R53 Mini's airbag light has gone off and on the past year. I've cleared it before with the OBD B200 reset tool. This time it will cut off for a few seconds after clearing and then blink back on. The error code given is a 0b, the manual says this is the firing circuit, battery safety switch 1. I've taken out the battery and cleaned the terminals but to no avail. Does anyone know where the safety switch is located? Thanks

It's the plastic box of electronics that's mounted on the battery positive cable in the trunk.

I figured that would be it. I pulled one of those connections and reconnected it but that still didn't fix the light. I know water leaked in the battery compartment about a year ago. I dried everything off and the battery seemed to be working fine and no airbag light. There are no signs of damage to the box, does anyone know a possible solution?

Make sure all the connections are tight and free of any corrosion. You might want to try some dielectric grease on all the contacts. If that doesn't do it, then you might have to replace the unit. They're pretty pricey but I've had good luck with salvaged parts like this.
I just replaced my airbag module with a used one off ebay. About ~$70 compared to ~$300 new. Now, the little red light that's been eyeing me for the past few years has finally gone away.

I appreciate the help! Unfortunately I'll have to clear the light to pass my states inspection but I will try to clean all the connections to see if it will stay off

if you have to replace it, the part is called a bst cable and it runs from the battery clear to the front of the vehicle to the b+ junction under the hood. Hopefully you can get the connection clean.

I've found this: http://www.mini2.com/forum/first-gen...der-valve.html

Apparently the airbag light can be temporarily fixed by placing a 3.2 ohm resistor where the two cable connect to the plastic yellow piece at the positive battery terminal. Anyone have experience with doing this? Seems fairly straight forward though so I will attempt it sometime today.

"Dummy" resistors are a common fix for turning off an airbag light. It's normally used when someone installs an aftermarket seat that doesn't have a built-in side airbag like the OEM seat.
The resistor is also used sometimes for diagnostic purposes. If you plug the resistor in place of the airbag (or in this case the safety switch) and the error still comes back, then it points to faulty wiring or airbag module.
In your case, I would strongly recommend fixing it properly since this is a safety issue. If you were to get rear-ended badly, the battery could short out and cause a fire.
