Washer Fluid Pump Woes
Washer Fluid Pump Woes
Hello all
First time posting here so here's some information.
I'm 23 and recently bought a MCS after lusting after one for several years. Obviously after buying one I promised myself I would never own another car. even with all of its quirks.
I have a 2006 MCS. 62k miles. Clutch is in great condition. Grabs early. Original clutch. But I have had the normal MINI problems such as PS pump going etc etc.
I decided to finally come here to ask about my newest question, since few other threads describe what I'm seeing.
The Question
-------------
Recently my windshield washer nozzles almost completely stopped working. If I activate them they'll do one squirt, and then dribble. (Hopefully no one takes that in an inappropriate way)
Both the front and rear washers do this. Both reservoirs have been filled since I have the headlight washers. Motor makes sound and as I said I get one squirt. I did not look for kinks since its both front and rear.
The weirdest part... this just happened recently. Before then they were working fine... still weak flow... but they worked. Then two days ago I get the symptoms listed.
My research points towards the actual pump being clogged. If any advice is given on how to rectify this easily, I'd be grateful.

Talked about this in another thread . This will help and where to look. You have a 2006 so look for the 1/2005+ components. Also you will have the additional headlight washer system and reservoir if you have Xenon lights.
Here is a diagram for reference. Have you cleaned all the holes with a pin or thin wire. You might need to dig deeper and see if there is a clog in the line. Also, the strainers could be clogged a little, they set in front of the pumps.
Headlight washer tank and pump is on the left side ( driver ) and is activated when you have the headlights on and I believe it sprays the headlights the first time, then it's like every third time you spray the windshield. They work in unison.

ON the right hand side , under the quarter panel is the windshield washer tank and pump.

There is a washer tank up to 1/2005 production.

Check the strainers on #4 .

For the rear, make sure to clean the spray nozzle, again with the pin. Sometimes people have gotten cogs back by the non return valve and had to replace it.
