2007 Project

Well when is a bargain not a bargain, when it starts to cost a boatload to fix it...

I need some help, the nearest Mini dealer is 200 miles away, one way.
I purchased a 2007 S that did not have keys at an auction. It was a dirty mess with 115k miles. I took the vin and ordered a new key which arrived quickly. Good news it did not need the additional programming so it only cost $200 bucks.

The moment of truth, insert key and the dash lights up!
Push in the clutch and hit the starter and the car just turns over and over but does not fire.

Can you diagnosis the fuel pump without the car running? I need to check the plugs to see if they are wet but any other suggestions.

Help please...

1. Check your spark plug wires.
2. Verify that the ignition coils are firing.
3. Fuel filter clogged?
4. Fuel pump failure?
5. Bad fuel?
6. Compression test?

The only fuel related thing you can check with the car off is the low pressure fuel pump (tank pump). I think it should push 65-70psi when the ignition is on. You can hear that sucker when it turns on too

You can't diagnose the high pressure side until the engine is running.
