CEL P2418 Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit/Open

I received the code P2418 "Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit/Open" this morning when starting up the car. Yesterday I had filled up the gas tank. Any idea if bad gas could cause this message, or does it actually require a repair? 53k on the odometer.

Thanks in advance.

Gas and a bad gas cap can throw codes sometime. What year is your MINI? Is it under warranty? If not it still might be covered as this is part of the emission systems. IMO I beleive you have at the leak diagnostic pump, and/or the EVAP solenoid valve as seen below. Here is what the system looks like.

It's a 2010 Mini Cooper S with 53,000 miles. Tried clearing the code tonight. Went right back on once I turned the car back on.

Double-check the gas cap.

did you get anywhere with this?

I had the same code this morning. a couple things i'm thinking could cause it. i filled the tank halfway with regular, caught it, finished with 93 and then a bottle of octane boost. second, i drove in heavy heavy rain/pooling water on my way home from work yesterday.

That's a good diagram, but I don't think it shows the purge valve or vent valve. Anyone know where it's located on a 2010 S Hardtop? I'm guessing it's near the throttle valve, but someone (maybe a different car) said under the intake manifol.

Did you ever find the fix for your code?
I have the same code and had a bad spot in a wire, fixed that but still have the light on.
