just noticed the CEL is on and scanned my OBDII read as p2402.

P2402 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Control Circuit High.

my damn warranty just ran out less than 25 days. this SUCKS.

i called my dealer (southbay mini in torrance ) he has mentioned that mini might still try to fix this since is a rather short period of time after the warranty expired.

please help to verify this and advise what i should do after?

This could be as simple as your gas cap. When did the light come on?

 

came on yesterday, gas was below a quarter but we did not get gas.

 

please help, I'm trying to avoid all causes!

 

Evap emission is the different devices that keep unburnt fumes from being released into the atmosphere like a sealed gas cap, charcoal canister and other stuff. 9 times out of 10 when you see a trouble code for evaporative emissions devices it's because the gas caps either gone bad or wasn't put on correctly. Go to the AP store and get another one. IF it does not solve the problem return it. It can take a couple cycles to clear the code if you don't have a code scanner to clear it.

but can a gas cap go bad with only 4 yrs 34k miles?

 

They can go bad in less time then that.

i have checked my car again today, using the BC button, it does not have a check engine light under "check info"

but i do still see the CEL on the speedometer. im going to wait until my husband car to come home so i can try on his gas cap from his tsx.

I highly doubt his TSX cap will fit properly. They are inexpensive at the AP store. They can clear you code once putting it on, so then you will know if it solved your problem. If not return it.

 

can you be define what is AP?

also my car still shows CEL on the speedo but not under check info. weird.

does anyone know why?
