Yet another boost problem. The last was settled by a new valve cover. Now I get intermittent boost cuts or limp mode. I drive and after a while I get limp mode where boost is limited to 3-4psi. Sometimes this happens on start up, sometimes after a few accelerations and sometimes after 30 mins or even longer.

I'm picking up a variety of pending codes, but not at the same time. I might get a P0006, I reset on the Scanguage, boost returns for a while and then disappears. I then get a different code, from the selection below. I'm getting a combination (one at a time) of the following:
P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open
P0002 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Range/Performance
P0003 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Low
P0004 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit High
P0005 Fuel Shutoff Valve "A" Control Circuit/Open
P0006 Fuel Shutoff Valve "A" Control Circuit Low
P0007 Fuel Shutoff Valve "A" Control Circuit High

I do get an occasional P0008 and P0009, although the above are more common.

Any suggestions? Time to renew the HPFP (again) or is there a sensor unplugged, dirty or needing renewal?

 

Have you checked for any boost leaks? Could be adding to the issue

I have the same P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open error and yellow CEL.

No boost after 3K rpm. I was wondering what happened with your car. I have 2009 Mini Cooper S.

 

this sounds a bit similar to the codes and really the symptoms I had a few months ago.
Turned out to be the High Pressure Fuel Pump, which is a known issue on some r56's and covered via a warenty extention.

Good luck, hope it turns out to be something simple (and cheap).

 

Hi - thanks for the quick reply. I can't seem to view the warranty extension link. Is this a service bulletin or other wise covered ? I thought my warranty was expired (I bought the car used)

 

It turned out to be a boost leak from the hole around the meth nozzle. Funny thing is that the Scangauge still gives me the random pending codes (P0001 through to P0009), but boost is back and car running well...watch this space!

 

thanks for the update - I'll have to check all my vacuum lines / intake and see if I can find any leaks.

 

I have the same set of codes coming up as pending also. Prior to this I was getting a P2406 code, Wichita had to do with the leak detection pump. So I replaced that and for a day everything was normal. When I say normal I was pulling the same pressure on my boost, (scangauge II) With running down the road its normally -6 to -8, usually stays closer to -8 than not. Before I changed leak detection pump it was pulling -2 to -5. Now I have these codes in pending like you, p0001 through p0009 and boost went back up to -2 to -5. Car seems to be running fine though, well might be my imagination but my butt synopsis thinks things aren't so hunky dory under WOT. Going on a big trip this weekend to top it off.
