The check engine light came on my 08 MCS and my code reader says its P1290, now I have been trying for the life me to find mini's discription of this code but having no luck has anyone ran into this code?

You might have a bad thermostat or coolant temperature sensor.

 

Thanks, thats what i was thinking it was but i also ran into different discriptions from other manufacturers, both thermostat and sensor were replaced a month ago when i replaced the housing due to a leak mini sells as a whole assembly, i may have a air pocket in the system

 

Thats possible.

 

Then again it wouldnt be the first time I got a defective part from the dealer.
