I just bought a 2007 mini :( so sad
I was aware that the a/c light did not turn on and the guy who sold it to me ,told me that its because needs to be refill, then I didn't pay attention in the temp needle was stuck, and a light of the air bag pass was on.
So there I was to my mini dealer in Ontario California I drop it off to fix these problems. 1 day nada, 2 days nada... after a week they call me back to tell me that the cluster instrument need to be replaced that it was not reading cost $1380 ouch... just to fix the needle temp. problem, after 2 days they called me back that it's not reading and they ask me if I knew if somebody has tempered the modules? I said I just bought it and know anything about that. so now they need more time to diagnostic the modules? damn $$$$$
I'ts been there since I bought it, I just drove it 2 times I'm so sad.....
Then they told me that is overheating too OMG.
Called the guy who sold it to me and no answer. :( Can this be take it to court and get my money back from the guy I bought it?

Sorry to hear about all these problems! That certainly does suck that you bought a new (to you) car and instead of excitement all you got is headaches and expense!
Well of course you can sue anybody for anything but that doesn't mean you have a good case or you will win. If the seller made representations that the vehicle was in a certain condition and he knew or should have known they were not true then you may be able to recover. However if the vehicle was sold "as it" then it is up to the buyer to have it checked out and know what he is buying.
It may come down to a "he said" "she said" situation and if you have something in writing that is always the best evidence. Usually private parties selling used cars are sold on a "as is" basis with no warranty implied. But as I said if he specifically represented certain things that are untrue that could help you. Then again the court could say "let the buyer beware" and you should have been more diligent in checking it out. Getting the bad end of a bargain does not mean you will always win. The seller could always say that as far as he knew the car was basically sound.
Maybe you can work something out with the seller to avoid the headache of litigation. Good luck with the repairs and resolution and I hope you get it all worked out and enjoy your car!

What are the modules? Are they expensive? The dealer told me that they need to check one by one. And it had escalated to a very time consuming and if I want to get my car from them it's ok, I felt like the dealer doesn't want to fix it :(
If you can, find an independent MINI mechanic. They are less expensive and they may be able to do a quicker fix. I only know of two... one is in Thousand Oaks (Motoring Magic) and one in Orange County (Miniworx?) They are both great shops and will go out of their way to help you.

God Knows he told me that in order to keep testing they have to put a new one in(so they put the new one before they found that the modules are not working) :( but I'll ask him if he could double check if the original still in good condition.
I bet they are going to said that is defective :(

took it to Ontario Mini , Ca - changed Oil & coolant flush
@ about 41000 miles
had no idea i need to check oil level on a fairly low mileage car.
little rattling noise @ start UP around 43000 miles .
check engine light & low oil warning light came on , on the way to work @ 44000 miles
turn around came home . finally check oil- no oil on dip stick- added oil started the car again, engine made awful clunking noise & massive oil spill all over my drive way ! now looking for a used engine to buy.
This place call LOW MILEAGE ENGINE in Memphis. anyone dealt with them before?

Sorry for your bad luck OP, that's rough! Not to rub salt in the wounds, but in the future it's always a good bet to have a used car inspected before purchasing... any seller who refuses a pre-purchase inspection (PPI.) is one to walk away from, I think. It's a few hundred dollars, give or take, and can save you big headaches in the future.
I hope it doesn't end up costing you too much! Once its fixed and you're on the road, you'll soon forget about the extra up front costs to get you motoring.

To the OP this quoted post is excellent and suggest you heed the advice in avoiding litigation and get down to some agreement with the seller to move forward...

Learn your options. I suggest that you speak with a lawyer, and also call the consumer fraud office of your state attorney general's office.
