2013 Justa whistling sound when idling.

Just broke 4500 miles on my 2013 Justa this week and for the past week or so I've noticed a high pitched whistling/squeling sound coming from the engine when the car is idling. It starts when the RPMs drop below 900 at a stoplight or when I park in my garage and am about to turn it off.

The dealership is over 2 hours away from me so I'm hoping it's something simple and stupid and nothing serious.

I think I remember reading on here that is a sign the water pump is failing. Better get to the dealer.

Took it to the dealership yesterday and they confirmed it's the water pump but they aren't able to get it fixed until next week.

I'm REALLY hoping this isn't a sign of things to come since I've had the car less than two months and I'm already taking it back to the dealership for repairs. :/

I'm not really happy that I'm going to be burning another entire day to get things corrected. In all fairness, I knew what I was getting myself into with there really not being any dealerships close to me but I certainly wasn't expecting taking it in for service before the 12k oil change.

I love my Justa! I don't think the label is degrading at all.

I like Justa, I don't find it degrading in anyway. I don't like Non S, it always sound apologetic to me.

Same!

I'm sorry that some of my fellow motorists don't approve of the label; I hear lots of people call them "non S Coopers".

Anyway, I'll be spending the afternoon tomorrow with a loaner and half a day to do whatever while I wait on the water pump to get replaced. I'm thinking about just going to see a movie or something while I wait.

My CooperS water pump bearing went at about 400 miles. Its just a bad pump, get it replaced and move on. :-)

No whistling from my "Mini Cooper". 5k miles and only issue was the day/night **** failed on the rear view mirror, replaced by dealer. Best of three Minis I have had.

Bumping this because at 9500 miles the replacement water pump seems to be going bad. The car is doing the exact same thing it was doing 5000 miles ago.

I'm really frustrated because I want to love my car but I want to punch a wall at having multiple issues in under 4 months of ownership. Is this a sign of things to come?
