Squeaky Window
Now that it's warm out and my car is sitting out in the sun during the day, the window squeaks when i get in the car and roll it down. Any one else have this problem? Sounds like something needs to be lubed, but I don't know what. And it only happens for part of the way down. Even the auto down/up feature when opening and closing the door makes the squeak. And this only happens when the car has been baking in the warm houston sun.
It happened to us w/ our 03 MCS, the dealer had to replace the regulator, but the noise has come back, so it will be back in the shop again,
P.S. the dealer scrached the window tint when they had to remove the window so be carefull.

My windows squeak only on rainy days from moisture.
My dealer says it is my window tint and refuses to do anything.
Another owner said he had his window angles adjusted and that helped

Mine squeal/squeak everytime I roll them up or down. It's pretty annoying. I can't remember if they did it before I had them tinted. It doesn't suprise me that Mini of Hawaii refuses to fix them. I guess every car on the road with tinted windows must squeak then too!
I'm just gonna take some silicon lube and fix it myself.

Does anyone know exactly what needs to be lubed and how to get to it?
I've had the door panel off to add sound deadening, but i don't recall that revealing the window or it's mechanisms at all.

Mine squeak but only when slightly wet and even then not all the time. This started right after getting the tint installed so I assumed I would just live with it. No big deal for me.

If you find a fix for this let us know what works.
Mini do squeak but none of my past cars with tinted windows ever squeaked. Must have to do with the MINI.
Maybe the window angle is such as to create some harmonic vibration just right to make music albeit squeaky.

Mine squeak too. It only happens during the up/down operation, not when the glass is stationary.
To me, it sounds like the squeak is coming from the glass forming a seal with the rubber molding. I get a little squeak when I shut the door and the window does the old "move up a 1/4 inch" thing. Perhaps applying some kind of lubricant (WD-40 ?) to the rubber molding would help. Although that might smudge the window too, I don't know.
It does seem to be happening more now that it's getting warm out.
Anyway, it doesn't bother me. I thik it's just part of the price of not having a window frame as part of the door. As long as its quiet once it's not moving, I'm happy. I'd be annoyed if it squeaked all the time though. It's not, is it?

Interesting, mine has started doing it too, recently. (Austin, TX sun peeking out). If it's the tint, that's funny, since the DEALER installed mine!!
It seems to me (haven't looked into it too much yet), it's coming from the window seal. I have some Gummi Pflege from our old Z3 that I was going to try on the rubber surrounds to see if the sound goes away. (I'm thinking it probably will.) It's good stuff.

I've had similar issues w/ my '04 MCS. About 2 weeks after delivery, the dealer tinted windows, specifically the passenger side, began to not just squeak, but outright squeal loudly whenever it was lowered or raised regardless of moisture. In addition to the aural pleasures this unexpected feature brought, the tint itself quickly exhibited large gouges in the film. A visit to the tint vendor and an afternoon wasted netted a new tint for that window. After waiting several days for the film to cure, the problem was back, apparently not resolved. Another visit to the dealer, supposed cleaned seals and yet another retint and there is still some squeak left; no squeal; however, there are new scratches in the film. I've noticed other postings on mini2 whereby members had to have the window squeege (sp?) replaced under warranty. At any rate, it is definitely a frusting problem. Good luck.

The driver's window on my car also did this. The symptom occurred on warm or sunny days only. I could drive to work (or to the dealer) in the cool of morning, and everything was quiet. I'd drive home for lunch, and the window squealed for the full stroke of its travel, both down and back up again. When I left to go home in the evening, the sun had set, the car had cooled off again, and all was quiet once more. It took five trips back to the dealer before they finally replaced the entire motor and regulator assembly, which fixed the problem. I did, however, have to jump through more hoops than a poodle at a dog show to get it done:
On the first attempt, they tried lubricating the door edge seals and belt moldings, which just left greasy streaks on the glass. The noise was unabated.
On the second repair attempt, the the service writer stated that the tech had pulled the door trim panel and lubricacted all of the pivot and slide points on the regulator assembly. I drove off with the car around lunchtime.
I came back the third time, unannounced, later that same afternoon. I dragged the service writer out from behind his desk to hear the noise with his own ears. I was able to demonstrate clearly that the noise was not due to the glass touching any door edge seal, as it was sqealing with the door wide open, and therefore the glass was not touching any seal except the belt moldings. We agreed it would be addressed at my next visit, which was already scheduled. (I was also pressing them about the stumble issue at the same time...
In spite of having spoken with the MINI sales manager that evening about the situation, and a promise from her for a response from the service manager"that evening or first thing next morning," I had to leave 2 more voice mails to the service manager before I got a reply. It was almost noon before he finally called me back. I had to go over the whole history of the problem again with him. (The conversation with him that followed was enough to start another whole thread, so I won't post it all here.)
On the fifth trip to the dealer, the motor and regulator assembly were replaced, and the window has been quiet since.
MINI USA, if you are reading this, please take note: I understand that your dealer has a responsibility to not "throw parts at a problem," but it should not have taken 5 trips to the dealer to have this fixed. The costs to me for this, both financially (in unpaid time off from work to bring the car in) and in frustration were considerable. If you are interested in the full details of this incident, please feel free to PM me with your contact information and I can provide them.
