power steering motor over heating.

Other day i had a flat tire. I puled off the road and my power steering fan sucked in some dead grass. The day that i replaced the flat tire my power steering motor died. After the car sitting it turned on again. This is telling me that it is not dead but overheating.

I drove the car home and got underneath it and found the fan clogged with grass and not spinning. I pulled the grass out and the fan works again. yay problem fixed!. Well so i thought.

I got in car, power worked fine for 3 minutes and poof no power again. Still overheating! Checked fan and its working fine.

help? please!

on a side note i just put the car together a week before due to a new clutch. but worked fine till the flat tire bit.

Check your power steering fluid (in the black cannister next to youre coolant resevoir)...make sure you have fluid. if fluid level is ok, but its still acting up, your pump is probably shot. you can take it to the dealer and have them read fault codes, most likely youll have a fault for power steering pump if it is faulty. its a little pricey too. : / good luck man

Have you checked the fan's functioning? You can read more on it here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm

The fan doesn't really do what they say it does. I took my fan off about 4 months ago to do my oil pan gasket and didn't put it back on. Power steering still works fine. I'm betting the pump is just dying
