What the ECU is seeing is some sort of leak that's past the intake manifold.
Now, if you've checked the entire boost pipe system for leaks, and completed a smoke test with no result, it's something internal.
What that translates to is a common crack / leak in the valve cover or integrated PCV system in the valve cover.

* MINI DTC P2178 (0x2746 or 0x274E or 0x2BC1) - Fuel Trim Limit Exceeded: System Too Rich
The ECU is seeing too rich of fuel mixture and it's trying to pull back on fueling.

If you haven't remedied any of the problems, those codes will most likely return.
It's extremely rare to have fault codes to "randomly" pop-up without a cause.

Much appreciated for those codes. The light came back on, but only the 1497 for now. One weird thing is that I can not clear them now. The scanner keeps saying erase failed. I'm gonna dive into this weekend and see what if I can find an air leak.

alright guys, I wanted to make sure it was fixed before I reported back, and since it's been a few weeks, I think it's all good. It was the valve cover. I replaced it and reset the codes and it hasn't returned as of yet. I just wanted to follow up in case anyone else stumbles on this thread. I've read plenty of threads that end abruptly with no real answer and didn't want that to be the case here...
