I've seen posts about the heatshield rubbing against the power steering pump hoses. It can rub through the aluminum hose sheathing due to vibration and possibly cut through.

How do you inspect for this? I have an '04 MC and am getting ramps 'cause I can't see anything from above the engine. Is this the rear passenger side aluminum shield that covers the hose route? I can't seem to locate the pump hose routing at all from top down view.

Can you just bend the shield up a little or is there a better fix?

I believe that the area to inspect can be viewed from above. The concern is that the hoses coming out of the PS reservoir can rub against the heat shield that is located just to the left on them (when viewed from the front of the car).

The heat shield is between the Coolant tank and the exhaust headers.
