Can I push start a 2005 MCC?

Hi all

My car did the fun thing where the rear lights stay on after I turn off the car again last night. It does this once or twice a year. Usually, I catch it.

My portable jumper got the car going after a bit.

Now that I live on a hill, I was wondering if i can push start my car. I've done it on plenty of other cars, but I don't know how the electronics will handle the issue of the battery being mostly dead and then the car running.

If so, what's the process? Turn the key to crank, back to on, start rolling, put it in 2nd, pop the clutch and hope you're going fast enough? How fast is fast enough, typically?

thanks!

Check your manual (unfortunately we currently don't have one lol), I think they refer to it as tow-starting.

From the 2005 manual

Tow-starting
Do not tow-start vehicles with Con-tinuously Variable automatic Trans- mission (CVT). ␣

Only tow-start vehicles with catalytic converters if the engine is cold. It is better to have the engine jump-started, refer to page 134.
1. Turn on the hazard warning flashers; comply with national regulations
2. Turn the ignition key to position 2
3. Engage the 3rd gear
4. Have the vehicle towed with the clutch pedal completely depressed and then slowly release the clutch pedal. After the engine has started, immediately depress the clutch pedal again completely
