It was pretty accurate when I used it in my previous car and a friend's car. All the parameters have been set so the only thing I can assume is the mounting position. Oh well, I'll just have to try again

I just tested it after the half hour long drive home from work and it still will not go past 4000. It sounds as if it hits the rev limiter, or a fuel cut off. I'm just hoping that they haven't forgotten to remove the electronic limiter for transport. That would suck if they've been keeping HP from my right foot lol.
Any MINI technicians here that would know anything about what this could possibly be?
im having the same issue!! ive had 2011 Clubman S (N18 engine)for a year 1/2 and i just noticed this tonight. i know it's a lil ricey of me, but i have a ridiculous (in a good way) sounding straight pipe exhaust setup and i was revving back at a beastly sounding Altima SE-R (who revved at me first!) and i looked like an idiot cause my car wouldnt rev past 4000 haha. still smoked the ***** outta him (im ETG tuned ) but the part before the race was a lil humiliating. haha especially with how satisfying my exhaust currently sounds . doesnt sound so good when it tops out at 4000 rpm. just wanted to get a lil snap crackle pop if you know what i mean...but honestly im glad i found this thread cause i was freaking out for second there. i think the dude above is right when he says it's probably something MINI did to save us from our inner ricer. guess im gona just have to stick to classy low rpm revs and just be satisfied with that low tone. if you find out how to disable it or come to any conclusions WHY MINI has enforced 4000 rpm revs upon us. im thinking its probably a good thing tho haha... lemme know please! thanks.

ps - my car wasnt cold. i had been driving for 15 mins before this happened. then again i dont really know how long it takes for my car to be considered fully warm.. LEMME KNOW PLEASE =)

Not surprising that BMW/MINI would do this. Japanese automakers have been limiting RPMs in neutral/stopped with the clutch in for a decade now. 4k is plenty enough to roast the tires and given the reputation of the 2nd gen clutches I could see them doing this to protect owners from their inner ricers.

I've got a 2009 Clubman D and I can rev it to redline i.e. 5000rpms (and presumably higher) from startup no problem.

This was, of course, at a race track. Because street racing is illegal, and we don't talk about or condone illegal activities like that. Right?

If the surface was not level it will skew the 0-60 time. Big tail wind will do it too. Since it happened faster it thinks you have more HP than you actually have.
