Joining the failed motor mount club...

While checking the oil last night I noticed the black ooze of death creeping from the top and bottom of the P/S upper motor mount.

MINI just reached 75K

Just placed an order for a new one.

Had my 06 in for service about 2 years ago at 53,799 miles they noticed i had issues and replaced the mounts then,
Lucky for me they covered it as a good will gesture.

Not sure about 2nd generation Minis, but 2006 and earlier cars seem to start leaking with age or miles. Not a big repair. 15 minutes and $100 part.

Exaggeration.

Actually it was about 3 hours including detailing frame, sitting on lawn chair and having a beer.

I removed the LF wheel. With floor jack - about 5 minutes

Then the wheel well liner. This might be un-necessary if you put the car on ramps and use long extension with E12 Torx socket to remove bottom bolt. I wanted to clean everything anyway. 3 fasteners are Phillips head screws. The remaining 7 (?) are push rivets that can be removed with Philip's screw driver. I also used a flat blade to keep the rivet base from spinning. another 10 minutes

Then I put a 2nd floor jack and block of wood under the oil pan to take weight off mount. 5 minutes

16 mm box wrench to remove horizontal bolt.
E12 Torx to remove bottom bolt.
13 mm to remove ground strap bolt
17 mm to remove 4 bolts on aluminum frame between top of mount and engine.

I could probably do it all over in about 30 minutes to an hour.... depending on beer. IPA, Bock or Lager

Mount was $98 + $10 shipping. Mount is genuine Mini part, not "or equivalent".

Thanks for the write up

Might take a few hours for me since I will probably end up detailing the wheel well and suspension parts and inspecting everthing else while I have access.
