Anything on the steering wheel or wipers...all lights, radio functions, cruise...etc.

I wonder if you could get away with just a windshield wiper reprogram. I dont know if just the wipers have their own programming or if its all one program. I know window functions sometimes need reprogramming but that's not on the SZL.

No DSC light. When my wife gets back I'll try plugging the fuse back in and see if perhaps that "reset" the wipers. Fingers crossed.

After reading a description of DSC it seems having the steering angle sensor reprogrammed is probably the way to go to make sure that system works correctly...

If you lived in Maryland I would try and do it for you as I have steering angle calibration as part of Autoenginuity.

Out of curiosity how does AutoEnginuity have you calibrate the steering angle? Does it just say center the wheel and set it at zero? Does it report an exact steering angle at any point?

It's strange that I couldn't see ANY other problems with the car. The wipers are in "fast wiper speed" per the owner's manual. When stationary the wipers move at normal speed and once in motion the wipers speed up.

I don't know because it wouldn't even let me try and calibrate because the PCM didn't recognize the new SZL as being installed. Since programming I have not dared to try and calibrate it.

I just did a little more legwork on the part number for the SZL I was sent. I installed 61313451892. According to RealOEM here this is for cars NOT equipped with a rain sensor.

I contacted the seller as he claims to have another one he can send me. Looks like potentially I could of installed this without any programming if it was rain sensor compatible!!

Oh ya, that rain sensor would certainly cause a problem.

Luckily its very easy to swap in and out.

Hi guys,

Is there a way to tell what functions your car is supposed to have based on the VIN for example?

I bought a cooper s 2007 but it jas had some repairs in the past. I don't know what they were but the turn indicators do not switch off automatically. Also the steering wheel has radio and cruise buttons but they don't respond.

I'm not sure if my steering wheel is wrong or my SZL is wrong. I get no errors regarding ASC.

If you get no errors then the SZL isnt broken. If it was broken the dashlights would be on and wipers wouldnt shut off either.

They must have switched steering wheel types? Or programming is bad?

You could take off the steering wheel and see if the ribbon cable (clock spring) is broken by spinning it. BUT read my post above carefully before doing so or you will snap it for sure.
