I'm swingin' by the local Pep Boys after work, want to purchase an air filter but not sure they'll even have the MINI listed in the books... anyone know the Purolator or other compatible air filter part number? Or another car make and model that uses the exact same air filter as the MINI?

Thanks...Rock On!

-Joe

PS- Supposed to reach the mid-50's and SUNNY this weekend (wow, finally some warm weather yea!!), great time to get out there and wash the car...think I'll pick up some Meguair's NXT polish, see how it compares to Zaino.

If you cannot find the filter number for Purolator or other brand then
you can cross reference or find K&N drop in filters for:

2003 MINI Mini Cooper S Automotive 1.6L L4 F/I 33-2270 Air Filter $36
http://racingparts.streetracingshop.com/?x=153&y=46

2003 MCS Green filter Part number 2336 $47.46
http://racingparts.streetracingshop.com/?x=153&y=46

2003 MINI Mini Cooper Automotive 1.6L L4 F/I 33-2239 Air Filter $36
http://racingparts.streetracingshop.com/?x=153&y=46

I did not find a FRAM air filter for the MINI.

Thanks Minihune... I went to the local Pep Boys and sure enough, the 2003 MINI Cooper air filter was listed in the reference book, by Purolator. And sure enough...they didn't have any with that # on the shelf. $36 seems kinda steep for an air filter. I think the Purolator is around $8.00

I'm just glad that other companies are starting to manufacture replacement MINI parts...competition is good...keeps the prices down.

Rock On,

-Joe

Anyone know the actual K&N part number for their MCS filter? Several national auto parts stores sell K&N locally and it would be interesting to compare their prices to the varied prices of the online stores (Moss, OutMotoring, etc).

Thanks

The part no. for the K&N direct replacement filter for the 2002-2003 MCS is 33-2270. For the 2002-2003 MC it is 33-2239.

Dragged this old post out from hiding while using the search...

Well anybody have any luck finding stock replacement filters at a local auto parts store? When i checked the books it only had numbers listed for the Coopers and just blanks for the MCS. Well i thought maybe its because its the same filter. So i took the number and searched with no luck they didn't have the Cooper filter in stock. Searched a few places with no luck, my stock filter is pretty dirty and i want to replace it ASAP.

Any Help?

The filters are actually pretty cheap at the dealership. I had zero luck finding an aftermarket filter here (Atlanta) and just bought a couple, along with a couple of oil filters, from the dealership.

if any of ya's interested, I am selling my drop in KN filter for a 2003 MCS. I dont think there is any difference between the years, other than maybe the JCW intake box.

PM or email me (jinubob@gmail.com) if you're interested...

check AJUSA.com for KN filters. They have free shipping and are quite cheap.
