Wont start after removing battery

I had to disconnect the battery in my 2002 mini cooper due to the alarm going off and not being able to turn it off. The car will not start now. I have removed the battery and charged it. When I now try to start the car it just makes a clicking sound but will not start and I do not know why? Any ideas? Is it an immobiliser probem? If so what do I need to do?
Please help.

Sounds like the alarm has a built in immobilizer. I'd contact the company that manufactured and/or installed the alarm.

That is definitely a possibility.

Also may want to try pulling the battery back out and having it tested at an advanced auto or something along those lines to make sure it's still good.
