R56 steering rack, its possible, subframes are extremely similar, but may require an R56 steering column. I'm sure there are other manual racks out there, what do the 240sx owners swap to?

Since you posted this in a gen1 forum, i will assume the car is a r50/r52/r53.
no reason to believe you cannot disconnect the pump, then simply use a larger steering wheel for a simple fix...
if you want to matain quicker response, then getting a partial custom rack, with the ratio changed to make the efforts less would make sense...
My only question is, anything is possible with enough $$, do you expect to keep the car long enogh for the conversion to pay off...
Say you have 3 pumps fail in, lets say 6 years (guess), that is about $250 per year to keep the ps assuming a new pump is $500, and you do the swap...
A conversion may run $1000 or so...just a wild guess, but a rack and custom work...might be double that pluss install...so just saying at the bottom end of $1000, that is 4 years..(i'd bet unless you do all the conversion work and reuse your rack, it will be 2x as much).
It would be interesting...
quite s few folks have been driven crazy by the pumps ...and who knows, maybe you can convince a vendor to sell a kit if you figure out exactly what needs to be changed!!
i'm guessing it will happen someday....

thanx for the replies but i have had 3 of them failed not in 6years...in 1.5years max...
the problem is not the money...the problem is the time the car have to stand in the garage for 2weeks or a month because the parts have to be available here

is there any solution alternative to this headache problem?
its fine with me worth 1000$

Did the ps cooling fan get fixed?!
Sounds like the heat took their toll on them, but still....does not sound right...
Were the pumps new? Or rebuilt/remanfsctured?!
Next time import 2 pumps...then you will only have 4 hrs down time...and get a new ps cooling fan...and the correct fluid. To have them fail so fast just sounds like something was not right...
Maybe add a transmission cooler to the ps fluid return like too cool the fluid...might help keep the pump cooler, and extend its life.....been didcussed here, but has been called overkill for out temps...might be more approprite for your temps.
