Headlight adjustment for 2003 non-S
Headlight adjustment for 2003 non-S
Have a 2003 standard with fixed halogen headlights. Suddenly, both low-beams are pointing down but hi-beams are OK. H7 bulbs are seated properly. Bought a replacement headlight assembly for the passenger side and it has the same problem. It seems that the adjustment screws only affect hi-beams and there is no adjustment for low beams. Is it possible that standard H7 is not meant for low-beam socket? Great mystery.
gen 1 uses H7 bulbs
did you replace both low beam bulbs - both sides and then have this 'low aim'? Cuz it sounds to me like your bulbs are NOT seated correctly. There is an alignment tab that needs to drop into a slot on the housing. When I changed bulbs and did not get the tab aligned correctly my bulbs appeared to be way off aim as well. When seated correctly the bulbs were spot on . .
There is only one pair of adjustment screws for each light unit - not sep' for high and low.... if only changing bulbs your aim should not move . . .
or you have the X's and the auto-level system has gone kaput becuse don't forget that on a 2003 with X's the high is still a halogen H7

Thanks for responding.
I had read about the issue of seating the bulbs in the socket so I made every attempt to make sure they were solidly seated. But the correct alignment is not wildly obvious so I'm not 100% about this. I have reseated them several times but it makes no difference.
And the up/down adjustment screw seems only to affect the hi-beams. If you look into the headlamp you can see that the screw is only attached to the hi-beam chassis.
