ABS speed sensor

Is there a way to test the speed sensor to find witch one is bad? A friend has a 2006 S with a automatic trans its has a check engine light, ABS, DCS, and a low tire press light. The codes are P0700 and P1776. I am sure it is one of the front ABS speed sensors. I would like to be able to test them so I don't change a part that is not bad
Thanks for the help

I do know that P0700 is a malfunction in the transmission control system and the P1776 is the abs speed sensor. I am not sure how you can check which speed sensor is bad...I have a 05 MCS automatic that has the same problem, waiting to get it in the shop to get it looked at.

Unhook the sensor connector and hook it up to a scope and spin the wheel.
You should see a square wave pattern as it rotates.
Repeat with each one until you find the bad one.

If you're confident it's one of the fronts, just plug the new sensor into one side and see if it's fixed; you don't need to drive the car for the codes to clear. If not, plug the old one back in and put the new on onto the other wheel.

You might also be able to detect the pulses with a simple multimeter instead of a scope.
An old analog one would be easier than a digital one.
Set it to its lowest range for reading voltage.

Well, you might need to clear it, but not necessarily drive. I had my battery unplugged anyways, so when I reconnected it, the codes were gone.
