Headlight problem
Headlight problem
Hi all,
I did some searching for my problem and didn't see anything that jumped out at me. I have a 2007 Cooper S with the Xenon factory kit. The problem I'm having is with the high beams not working on one of the headlights. What I understand is that the bulb is a bi-xenon with some type of shutter that closes or opens depending on whether the low beams or high beams are on. Right now the low beam works fine and the high beam not at all. Is this something that may be able to be repaired or is it a complete headlight replacement? Seems like they're over $500.00. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

If it's just mechanical in nature ( low beam cover is stuck) - the light housing could be had for less than $300.00 and then you swap over the control unit/bulbs ect from the old assembly.
You might want to see if you can get in the back side of the light and get a small amount of lube on the sliding rod of the solenoid. Flick the highs a few times and maybe help it get unstuck.
