Mini might be dead :(

Some idiot pulled out in front of me in NH today and I tboned him. Both airbags went off and pretty extensive front end damage.

As much as I love the mini, I don't want a car that was in an accident but it will most likely not be totaled.

Any clue what air bags cost? Radiator, bumper and all that will need to be replaced. Prob at least 10k damage but whatever.

I love that car!

If you owe less than 20k they may total it.

On totals. What do they give you? Like average resale or what? My car was mint with clean car fax.

One thing you have going for you is the high demand for used cars and the prices they sell for at the auction.

Sorry to hear about your loss. glad your ok. In my experience and from what I've been told by a body shop was that in most cases when the airbags are deployed they total the car. Depending on your insurance company you should get market value for the car minus the deductible. Make sure to check a few sources online and get the value for your car to make sure their offer is right.

People are crazy out there. If they total it, not sure what to get next. That was my second mini. Might get an f150. Make things a lot easier carrying the motorcycle around.

I think they are issuing drivers licenses to anyone with 50 bucks in their pockets these days......sorry to hear about your MINI's.

Having seen a few front end collisions myself, these little cars sure are rugged.

My front air bags didn't deploy. Just all sides. So 6 bags. And the seats have air bags =]
ripped the seat covers off the side. And crazy thing is. Under my hood and inside the car is still damn near mint.

You may want to rethink that unless they have done a better job with the new Fords then the late 90's F-150. Check out this link:

Did you even read the article? It clearly states toward the bottom that Ford redesigned in 2004 and beat the mini in all aspects.

Ford has completely changed over the last decade and are now producing some of the best designed production cars on the road today.

They completely modernized all of their robotics and hired high-end european designers from Ferrari, Porsche, and others. They have one of the highest tech design centers in the world and are really turning the brand around.

Some of the new prototype design cars from Ford lately have been absolutely stunning, both in looks and tech.

hyundai and ford have gm,toyota and vw quaking in their boots. But hyundai is the one to watch between the 2.

Worlds largest car companys by number of sales
1.GM
2.TOYOTA
3.VW
4.FORD
5.HYUNDAI

If hyundai had a truck that sold in the volume the ford f series does they would be #4 and very close to #3

+1 I had the NBS 2004 and loved it. I ended up getting rid of it for my '09 MCSa because I drive minimum of 60 miles a day and 13.5mpg on 35s was killing me at the pump. Since the '04-08 models the '09 has been strengthened even more and redesigned. I would have no issues owning another.

ToACEkraut11's post...

Taken from the same article posted:
"The new 2004 model Ford F-150 scored good for all aspects, including the dummy kinematics test which the Mini Cooper only managed to get an average. It even won a best pick award. Amazing what some re-engineering can do!"

Update...somehow they didn't total it when the claims adjuster got there but.....it finally get to the shop to get the work done. The guy calls me and says there is over an inch of water in it and the keys are gone. The ****ers left the windows down at some point when they moved it to their "free storage lot"

Unacceptable. The supervisor at the insurance company tried to blame this one me, haha good try. If they do not total this car on Monday, they will be hearing from my lawyer.....

Wow. I'd love to know the thinking behind you leaving the windows down in a car that's not in your possession. Wouldn't you be using your telekinesis for better things?

I really hope this works out for you. What a pain!
