Auto trunk lock mechanism 1/2 issue

Ok,

So when holding down the unlock button on my R53 MCS, its supposed to release the trunk lid automatically.
It does, but it makes a rattling noise while doing so to the tune of lock/unlock function at warp speed, which makes the ratte-like noise.

Some days, I assume the luck of the draw on where the lock/unlock position lands, I can't close the lid .. it just bounces solid when it hits the striker, but doesn't catch. I then have to hold the unlock button to move it to the unlock position so that it will close and latch.

Anyone with this issue? It's annoying at best, but seeing that I rarely use the function I find it worth investigating.

Mine works like this. One click, driver door (maybe pass door too) Second click...rear trunk is unlocked (and the pass if it wasn't already) Third click, hold for 5 seconds and the windows go down.

2004 MCS. Sounds like you are holding down the button, never tried that. Maybe just try two clicks and see what that does for you.

EDIT: Click means push button and release. I only hold it on the third push if I want the windows down.

Yes, mine is fine with the one click for driver and two clicks for passenger/trunk. It' actually the method I use on a daily basis. Oddly enough, mine doesn't roll the window down .. or does it? Then again mine is an early '02. Could be different.

Anyway, It's the hold down function that's making me wonder what's wrong with the striker/latch assembly when using the hold down to auto release trunk lid conjunction function.

I never knew of nor tried the auto-release, so I don't know.

The 5 secs needed on the third push seems like a long time, but it is how mine works
