Bolt size for replacement ignition coil?
Bolt size for replacement ignition coil?
Hey guys,
I had a thread going about my replacement (or lack of) of my stock ignition coil and coming up on the issue of not being able to use the stock bolts w/ sleeves in the new ignition coil.
For those who have had it replaced and used different bolts (home depot or otherwise) ... what size did you get? I looked at a diagram, but my computer won't let me scroll through so the description is cut off ... i only have a M6 x 1.0 x ? which i assume the next number would have given me the length?
Any help would be possible.
Also, I tried the vise grip on the sleeve and ratcheting it out .. no go and im ruining the sleeve.
Thanks!

It takes four M6 x 1.0 x 55 mm bolts. Most places should carry them. The sleeves really dont come off easy unless you dremmel them off. Much easier to just buy new ones IMO.
Just be careful not to over tighten it. Just snug them up. The brass nuts embedded in the plastic valve cover can be pulled right out then you will need a new valve cover....

np, I would hit a local hardware store b4 going to HD for the bolts. Most times places like Aubuchons and True Value Stores have a better selection.
I used old school method for tightening them up
When they start to feel snug and the grommet begins to compress I stop. These really don't "fasten" down per se', the whole unit actually floats on top of the valve cover in order to reduce vibrations to the CP from the engine..
One of these days I should pick up a Bentley too....
