all of my searches came up with R53's with vibration dampener problems.
I have an 03 R50 that just started having problems with a wobbly vibration dampener. my questions are:
could this be a loose dampner or is it most likely broken?
the only way i can get at it, is to get it back into my parent's garage 80 miles away. what are the dangers in driving it that 80 miles?
what kind of damage can i expect if it decides to blow before i get it back to the garage?

Try using an angled mirror and flashlight to look at the pulley/damper from the engine compartment. The threads that you already looked at have some good pictures.
If it needs to be replaced, I would suggest:

I would be careful about driving the car. If it fails it will be kind of like the belt breaking which might cause some issues in still rotating parts or to the belt tensioner. But more than likely no real damage, because the belt driven accessories should stop rotating rather quickly but the crackshaft (where damper was connected) will still be rotating until the engine is turned off. You should get various warning lights. Do you have AAA or something similar to get a tow when it fails?

i have the fender liner out and it also appears my a/c pump pulley is not spinning freely when the a/c is off. with that said i'll be driving it with the a/c on back to my garage.
tow service? lol here's my towing service.

my dad's got a tow dolly and a truck but hopefully it doesn't come to that.
additional updates:
belt tensioner pulley is rounded and has two little groves worn into it (needs to be replaced)
a/c pump only spins when on (so for belt life i have to leave the a/c on)
still not sure if the crank pulley is alright or not with everything else that's malfunctioning
i think i have a tappet in the far left (passenger side) cylinder
