Automatic transmission replacement
Automatic transmission replacement
We have a 2008 Clubman with just over 53k. My wife was driving home from work last week and a transmission light came on. She drove it home, a mile and a half, and parked.
When I started and and put in reverse the motor jumped and rocked. It did the same thing when I got to drive. We called the tow truck and sent it to the dealer.
The dealer said the transmission needs to be replaced, $8314.00.
My question is... Doesn't 53k sound low for a transmission replacement? I understand that it is out of warranty by 3k, but wow. No Toyota I've ever owned puked a transmission like this.

The dealer says they can't help because there's a dent in the transmission pan. They also can't/won't say that the dent has anything to do with the failure. I've past it to MINI USA and we'll see what happens. Hoping for the best.
