Warning Light????

Let me start by saying my wife wanted blue LED license plate lights so I bought a pair for the mini and installed them. Turns out the fit of the bulbs is not quite perfect but you can make it work. Well we now see a warning light when we start up MINI (Louise) it is for exterior lighting. Turns out I did not properly fit one of the bulbs because it is not working. With that said I understand the warning light.
However there is also another one that is on when you are driving and it is the triangle with the exclamation mark in the middle? . How do I get rid of that, can I do a reset? I am new to MINI's in general and am wondering if that is what you guys call throwing a cell????

You may be able to reset the warning via the service menu, but I'm not entirely sure. (Video procedure here)

Also, I don't have my manual next to me, and I can't recall what the exclamation warning is caused by. I'm sure someone else can chime in.

For the exterior lighting error, You cannot reset or clear that error message. That triangle will stay in the lower display until you fix the issue. You can check the "Check Control" messages (there maybe more than one) by pressing the BC stalk button until you get to "Set/Info" press and hold until you see "Check Info," press and hold until you see the first error icon. You can now press BC repeatedly to see all of the error messages. Press and hold the BC button for 30+ seconds to get the specific ID number of the error. I posted a PDF with the list of error messages.

The FRM module is expecting the load of incandescent bulbs. In order to use LEDs you will need to add the appropriate resistors to the circuit to replicate the load of incandescent bulbs.

If you know how to use NCS Expert and have the programming cable, you can turn off individual bulb checks (including the plate lights). Head over to the electrical modification section for more info.

Thank you strobeyprobey,
It turns out it was the license plate light and you are correct you cannot just reset that warning light....Only one blue bulb was working so I put factory bulb in the other side, warning light gone....Thank you very much for the in depth reply, you arre the ones that make this Forum one of the best I have seen for the MINI if not the best!!!!!
