Accessing the 2014 Mini S F56 battery fastener bolts
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the best way to remove the battery in a 2014 Mini S? I found this overview but it is very difficult to access the rear bolts that hold down the battery, on the firewall side, since the battery is recessed into the firewall area. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...battery-431743
PS. the back side of the battery is below the driver's side windshield wiper motor so you can't access the two bolts from above the engine compartment; terrible location from a maintenance perspective.
Has anyone been successful with replacing their 2014 Mini battery? if so any tips will be sincerely appreciated..
I have a 2014 R55 S, and this is probably the original battery to the car as I don't see any mention of it being replaced in the records I inherited.
Today I started getting the orange battery light coming on in the Tach warning light area. This occurs after the car has been in the ACC position for about a minute, either before starting or after turning off the car. Both times I had the radio on, and it was automatically turned off. The car starts normally and doesn't appear to have any other problems, yet.
What I've done so far: I checked the battery charge with a voltmeter and have 12.58v with the engine off. I get ~14.1v with the lights and engine on. I hooked up my battery charger, and it started charging at 6 amps, and after 30 minutes is down to 3 amps.
Are there any other tests I can do to check the battery? It looks like I do have the IBS so can anyone point me to any way to program this for the new battery without taking it to a dealer? I'm in the Bay Area.
Thanks in advance for your help and helping me learn about basic battery troubleshooting!
Negative terminal, is the the Intelligent Battery Sensor?
Thanks, that's what I was thinking as well. I have a Carista bluetooth dongle, but it doesn't reprogram the battery info. What tool do most people recommend?
