Strange suspension inconsistency
Strange suspension inconsistency
I was checking the wheel gap on my 2010 Mini Cooper S and noticed that it is not consistent on all wheels. The front right and rear left have a wheel gap of three fingers, while the front left and rear right have a wheel gap of 4 fingers. Car only has 7k miles, any thoughts on this?
First make sure it is on a perfectly FLAT surface. If it is in a parking lot or drive way bake where there is not a low spot before trying testing. They DO NOT test with your fingers test with a tape measure from the ground to the arch they should be with in 0.25" (1/4") from side to side. But again it must be a good flat surface.
Wouldn't parking on a side slope place a bit more weight on the lower side, compressing those springs a bit more? In that case, the lower side measures should be a little less whether measured from the ground or from the hub center.
