how long to face fuel injection problem?

My little mini is at the shop. Dealer needs approval from Mini to fix the fuel injection problem. Once they get the okay, can it be fixed within a day? They said something about misfiring. Is this a serious problem?

Wanted a mini for a loan but got a bmw instead.

thanks all

seems as though.....yes

I also have been seemly having problems with the emissions, I know not to run the 10%ethonal, and I've had to have the injectors cleaned by the dealer. I am not sure but it could've been the previous owner ran regular fuel, there is no way in knowing though.

Powerful little engine that needs the power fuel!.

But Man do I love this Car! , I will put up with the learning how to take the better care of this little jewel!!!!!!

How many miles on your MINI and has it ever had a de-carboning? The MCS has direct fuel injection and while this has many advantages over port injection, it has one serious side effect: hard carbon build up on the intake valves! There are several threads on NAM on how to deal with this problem and a ton of arguments on which is best. There is also a problem with the fuel pump on the early R56 MCS and a re-call has been issued for this. Good luck and MINI ON!

15, 000 miles, mostly freeway miles. I usually fill in gas from Chevron but may occassionally fill it up at 76. I fill it up with the most expensive gas which is the supreme.

I was wrong. I assumed that they were going to replace the fuel pump but the Mini approval for work was the clean the fuel injector which will be done tomorrow.

Is this serious or just routine problem? Does the engline light usually go on because of this?

I don't know what de-carbonation means and I have never had it done.

Yup, if there's a injector problem that light should come on. If you are still under warranty, let the dealer fix it. However, carbon build up is something to be aware of and read up on. It causes a slow loss of performance/mpg and if not taken care of can lead to serious problems. There are a number of ways to correct this. The quality of gas has nothing to do with this, but stick to good 91+ octane anyway.

15K in 2 years? I'm at 50K in 3yrs. You need to drive your MINI more! LOL
