Service light, brake light and engine light
Service light, brake light and engine light
OK So my wifes Mini ( 2007 Cooper ) just had some lights come on but I cant figure out whats going on. May be some one here can help shed some light.
The car has 40,000 Kms on it. And now the dash lights speedo has the the Service Icon ( car up on a lift ) in orange. brake light is on in red on same speedo cluster ( this is the one on the steering column ) the engine light is on in yellow on the center speedo above the radio.
So thats the issue, I have looked in the manual to tried to make sense of this and I have never seen anything more confusing than this. However I have checked a couple of things to try to resolve the issue.
E-Brake - Check the handle is down and the light dose not go out
Brake pads - Still good about 50-60% left
Brake Lights - checked all working fine.
Brake Fluid - was at a good level but topped it off.
Brake sensor - did not check to see if needs replacing.
So now Im confused. Also Should I reset the lights and see if they come on again? Or should I just take it to Mini.......
I appreciate any advice you have.
Mike

Mike,
The brake lights are probably on because you have tripped one of the brake sensors. If you have, you will not be able to reset the light unless you install a new sensor.
On the check engine light, suggest you take it by an Advance Auto or something like that and have them read the code. That might give you a clue as to whether you need to take it in right away.
