2nd Bad Clutch on 11 MCS in 3600 miles
2nd Bad Clutch on 11 MCS in 3600 miles
At ~1200 miles, I noticed the clutch on our new 11 MCS would slip when accelerating in a higher gear on the highway. Took it in and it was diagnosed as a leaking slave cylinder. Within 1000 miles, it started doing the same thing. This time the entire clutch was replaced.
Now at 3600 miles it is slipping again, to the point of being dangerous on the highway. Took it by the dealer today and service was closed, but the manager went out for an "unofficial" ride with me and as soon as he drove out of the parking space he told me it felt like the clutch was worn out.
He went on to insinuate it was driving style that was causing the problem. My wife and I share driving the car and we both have been driving manuals for ~15 years and we have never had to replace a clutch on a car yet. This car has never been abused (no clutch dumps), heck its barely even broken in!
The manager also indicated that the 1st clutch is sometimes replaced out of good will but the 2nd one never is since the clutch is a wear item. How in the heck is a clutch that wears out in 1200 miles not defective? I have to take it in for an official appointment, but I did not like the tone of the manger at all.

Did they replace the pressure plate and throwout/clutch release bearing the first time or did they just replace the clutch disk itself? It almost sounds like the clutch is not being fully engaged against the flywheel and the resulting constant slip while driving is wearing out the clutch disk.
