Strange whistle when AC is running

Greetings,
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced getting an intermittent whistling noise when the AC is running. The whistle gets louder and more frequent when the fan speed is increased. Could it be the AC motor? Would the whole thing have to be replaced, or could I just spray some WD-40 onto it?
Thanks for your help.
M

Listen carefully, where is the sound coming?
If you hear inside, check your vent if there is obstruction. If its in the engine bay, could be a worn belt or needed an adjustment. Do not spray the belt with WD-40 instead buy a belt dressing. Spray belt, see if quites down.

Low freon level will also cause a hissing/whistling sound hearing from the vent area.

The mice that spin the cage fans get old and start to weeze when pressed harder.

Problem fixed

I ended up replacing the AC Blower motor. All whistling and chirping sounds have stopped. The part cost me about $90, diagnostics and labor ran me about $150.
