Damaged roof, sun roof and spoiler
Hey guys, i just joined this forum because i have an issue with my dad's 07 mini cooper s. the other day he was driving, he said he was zoning out as he was entering a garage... as the car entered into the garage in front of him, he just followed along and the gate came crashing down on his roof and slid all the way off the back of the car. the damage isn't too severe but we definitely want to get everything fixed. Now i dont know for sure that the gate didnt hit hard enough to damage any structural components, but as far as i can tell, the damage is limited to the roof, the sunroof glass (both glasses) and the spoiler. He had the sun roof open at the time so the gate was lifted from the roof and scratched along the glass. there is really only 3 dents, 2 on the roof and one on the spoiler... Now that you are caught up on what happened... i am curious as to how difficult it would be to replace the glass, roof and spoiler myself. he is very upset that this happened and i want to try and do everything i can to make it easier on him... if replacing the roof and glass is too difficult we will take it to the dealer to get repaired, any ideas as to how much it will cost at the dealer? Thanks a bunch guys. here are a few pics, i know they are tough to see but its the best i can do. the pics are going from the front to back.

Replacing the panorama roof glass and spoiler might not be too difficult -- depending on how the spoiler is anchored (some are bolted on at the factory, some are glued on at the dealership). But I even question whether you need to...? Replacing the roof itself would be a major undertaking, and I would recommend against even attempting something like that yourself, especially for the minor damage that's apparent from you photos.
Best to consult a reputable body shop; I think a lot of that damage could be easily repaired with some minor body work and/or paint touch-ups. The glass may even be recoverable with some clean-up. As long as everything is mechanically sound (i.e., the panorama roof still operates properly), I'd be thinking along those lines.

well yeah what i meant was get it fixed at a body shop or something... but we are going to leave the glass... the white marks on the side are just residue... which we can clean off
