a/c inoperative - need advice

2004 MCS, 106K, automatic climate control. Low speed fan resistor failed 2 years ago; installed remote resistor; all worked well until this week when I realized a/c not cooling. Compressor engages and appears to cycle appropriately, but cooling fan not working at all and no cooling through cabin vents - only ambient air. Did not observe any over-heating. Help! What is the problem here?

first thing I'd do would be go to any auto a/c place and check the gas level. Good chance you have a leak and if so you'll have to decide how and where to fix it. But if the leak is very small you may just need the gas refilled and that is usually doable for around $50 - some will even just buy the cans at AutoZone and DIY.... I had to top off a Honda and the shop said the leak needed to be fixed asap for $500. I topped off the gas for $50 and that was 18 months ago - in FL where I use a/c 90% of the time.

If the gas were low I would not expect the compressor to engage (and remain engaged) as normal, and this would not explain the inoperable cooling fan (both speeds.) But I will check.

+1 check the preassures....this will tell you tons about both the volume of refergerant, and compressor+expansion valve/orifice...
The mini ac system is pretty conventional.....most any place should be able to work on it...if they know how to reinstall the belt if the compressor needs to be swapped out...
