I go to Kroger today and come out with a cart overflowing with groceries. Go to unlock the boot..and it won't unlock!

After piling the groceries into the back seat and all over my passenger i get home to find the problem....

My keyfob will unlock driver and passenger doors but not the boot.

The toggle switch is iffy... the first few times it wouldn't lock or unlock doors. after starting my car it did it after about 10 times of hitting the toggle. But it still won't unlock my boot.

Also my doors still locked automatically when I drove.

So do you think there is a problem with wiring for the toggle switch? but if so why won't my keyfob unlock the boot?

any suggestions would be great cuz I'm lost

 

Year, make and type of lock system(comfort access?)?

I have a 2004 Cooper. i'm not sure what type of system it is but I don't have an alarm system.

 

I unfortunately do not have any information/knowledge on how to fix this. Just as an FYI for future problems...slightly lift up the center front edge of the rear seat. Underneath you will see a little black ring, pull that and the boot latch will unlock.

I just went out and manually opened the boot to see if anything was stuck on the lock. There wasn't and I can push on the latch like its closing. I even pushed the latch completely as if it was closed and it still wouldn't unlock, had to manually unlock it again to close the boot.

May have to call the dealer on this but thanks for the help!

 

Check your battery, mine was doing same thing replaced the battery and no problem since. If it is over three years old thats probably it.

 

I was going to suggest battery as well. Other than that, it may be time for a trip to the dealer :(.
