Need Help!! Transmission Problems With Cvt

my mini cooper r50 cvt is giving me major problems the the rpm needle is floating 2,000-3,500 rpm goin about 45 and sometimes it likes jerks real bad when i slow down right when i stop. and other continuing problems are when i put it in reverse after i start it it jerks, also when i put it in drive.. also when i use the slap stick when i get up too like 4,000 it sounds like its super charged but i know its definitely not. but idk whats wrong with it and i was hoping that i could get some help with these issue..with estimates and price and what might be wrong with it... ive read around but nothing that i have read is anything close to what my car has been doin. i took it to mini cooper dealer and they did maintenance.. and put new a pillars covers on it.. and they said there wasnt anything wrong with the transmisson.. ive read about it might be a solenoid wire loose or something and thats a $150. fix please help me.. im at the obx of north carolina i guess visting for the summer stayin with friends tryin to get a job and dont have any means of transportation right now.. looking for mini certified mechanic on the obx

I would be glad to help but I'm in Mexico ...
heard about mini transmission problems ....
think the best is find a good mechanic near your home

and also try to change the oil to see if that works

I'm almost sure that maybe selenoids are the problem ....

good luck!

How many miles? I vote dump the CVT and trade it while it still works.

Your CVT is toast, and it's anywhere from $7 to $9K depending on who you ask, there are no rebuild parts and all they can do is install a new one. The solenoid problem is different than what you're experiencing. If you keep trying to drive it, it will leave you by the road, and probably pretty soon.

Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but......

I dunno. If you took it to a dealership and they said the transmission was good to go, I wouldn't worry too much. How long ago was that? There are lots of horror stories about the CVT, get to a Mini dealership pronto and have them give it another once over.

CVT troubles

The above address is about refurbished Mini CVT transmissions which they clasim is one of the best.

I did experience something like what you are saying and my problem turned out to be the battery. I replaced it and the CVT has workered perfect ever since???

Facebook Page for those with faulty CVT Transmissions

Hello all,

I am the owner of a 2006 Mini Cooper S. My transmission has failed on me at 78,000 miles. I have detailed my entire experience on my Facebook Page and would like to use Facebook to send a message to Mini USA that they cannot treat their customers this way.

My Facebook page is called Swindled Mini Cooper Owners.

Join/Like today.

Thanks

[QUOTE=minimaximum10;3242030]my mini cooper r50 cvt is giving me major problems

This is horribly long but #6 "Normal operation" could point out a possible procedure that sometimes addresses various CTV behaviors.
