OK, an update, insurance company is putting in a new engine, lower inter-cooler, radiator, two front tires one wheel, lower Tupperware. It surprised me that they didn't total it. With a shop bill of almost 15000. Engine arrived from Germany two days ago, so they are well into the repair. I wonder how my warranty works with the new engine hmmmmm.

There was nothing left of my engine, melted valve covers, distroyed turbo, seaized the engine. In fact I'm still waiting to get it done.

It may take some time before You are all ready to go.In my case my MINI was hit up front. Engine was pushed back to back bracket. That bracket made small hole in the lower engine block (aluminum block where oil pan is attached ). That's what I need. Do You think Your lower block is OK?
Thanks.

Yahoo! Just got my car back. New engine, radiator, lower intercooler, turbo, front fender (upper and lower), and the upgraded injectors (all four). What a difference those make. Awesome

For those that have been asking for parts, the insurance company requested all parts replaced. Dealer said that was usually standard practice.

Well, where do I start hehe, after getting my mini back from the dealer, it stalled a month later. Found out that they didn't replace the throttle body, so that had to be done. Now about why I'm writing today. When I picked it up they jokingly, said that everything now has been replaced except for the transmission, you guessed it, the transmission blew, oh boy, it is still on warrenty until next month. Estimate - get this 8,000.00 US. Don't know if that is exactly what is wrong yet, it is just the worse case. Now lets see, new engine, turbo, injectors, covers, throttle body, gaskets totaled 12,000 now adding a near 8.000 to that and WOW 20,000 latter. Lets see 32,000 for the original purchase, wow looking at to that way it is now up to 52,000 Now what can go wrong, oh, the suspension of course - not going there as I have McPhearson struts also.

What next.

wow, I just read the entire thread. I feel really bad for you. The insurance company should have totaled your car long ago. People say you have to make sure all the warranty work is completed before your warranty expires. Otherwise you are not covered. Have the car fixed and dump it right away.

Wow, what a tale of woe. Yikes. Now, my $0.01 x 2 worth, this is half BMWs fault. If those daggone %$!!$& would put a real gauge pack in with oil press, ECT and maybe oil temp, this could all have been avoided or at least mitigated somewhat. I think the low oil press light shouldnt be called an idiot light, of course that may describe the engineering team. The personal favorite Ive used for the last 29 years is the blown engine light. Sadly here it turned out to be laser spot on. :(
Condolences on your adventure. I had a tire and 2 wheel bearings destroyed by a road in PA and had to eat the entire repair. The idiots didnt chamfer the asphault when they were grinding it, but hey .............. whatcha gonna do ?????

Well, that's why I put an oil pressure and water temperature gauge in myself. It wasn't cheap, but it does give a little piece of mind.

Sell it to CarMax. Start doing research on ordering a 2012 MINI.
