Today I noticed a oil/ oil-like substance on the plastic "skidplate" thing. It had the feel of oil but didn't smell like oil. I checked the oil in the car and it was good. Also checked the smell since the synthetic could smell different. No dice. It was coming from the passenger side and i couldn't see anything from the top side. Any ideas on what this fluid could be?

 

So, you're convinced it's not oil then, right?

I guess that would have been some important information huh? It's an 09 MCS. Im pretty sure its not oil but there is still a chance. I checked the level and it was good. While doing so I checked the color and smelled it. It was darker and smelled different from the oil substance on the plastic lip. The color of the oil on the lip was more like unused oil. The last oil change was in October so Im thinking that it couldn't be spilled oil finally making its way down. Not sure what it is. To be honest, I'm kind of sick of taking it in to the shop for all the little problems. Its been in the shop at least 10 times since I've bought the car new in Oct '09. Love the car, hate the reliability issues.
