Hey Gang,

I had some trouble with my mini today...a few times on a hard takeoff from stopped it felt like my trans was slippping...the mini was sorta bucking.

Anyone ever heard of this before?

I'm not gona be very happy if my mini has to go in for some service already...with 1000 miles on her (

i don't know about the slipping after only 1k miles, but that 'bucking' sounds like
the 'stumble' everyone has. v36 reflash on the ECU apparently fixes this. What
is your build date?

to check for clutch slip, drive 25-30mph in 4th and floor the gas. If your car
bogs, then your clutch is still good.

-OR- your DSC was working!

You said on "hard takeoff" How hard? Maybe the DSC is kicking in. She'll fall flat on he face when that happens.

First off, do you have Cooper 5-speed, CVT, or MCS?
The 5-speed has no known issue with the stumble
The CVT issue is being worked on as we speak
The MCS Stumble is fixed with V36 software, available for free at your dealership. However, V36 was supposed to be integrated into manufacture at the factory starting 11/03.

Also, be sure to turn your DSC or ASC off when checking this stuff out.

Hi,

Its a cooper....cvt.

It happens on a hard take off from stopped...and seems to do it more when the wheel is cut.

I notice that when it does it the yellow dsc light comes on.

It feels like tire or trans slippage.

The DSC is on when the light is off. When it is on and working it will flash at you. When the light is constantly on the DSC is off and you can spin your tires at your hearts content. That will fix your problem.

Thats whats happening, the DSC is kicking in with hard launch. You can turn off the DSC but, will probably get a bunch of wheel spin. Might try not launching as hard, especially with wheels anything but straight.
