Check engine light

Hey guys. I was jut sitting in my car letting it warm up and before I turned the engine on I hit the start button. An all the lights came on then they go away as usual except the check engine light. I have never noticed this before. So I started the engine. And it went away. I'm guessing it's nothing but I just wanted to ask if everyones does that. I food it weird that all the lights on the speedo went away except that one. And when I say lights I mean like the check engine cruise control. Ya know all those little icon lights.

From what I've read, many Check Engine light sensors (and not just for MINIs) have hair triggers. That is, they can be very sensitive to the slightest measure outside of their narrowly programmed comfort zones. All of my cars have thrown temporary Check Engine lights that were not stored and read later by a code reader. I know one can't help but be a little concerned regardless, but try to reserve the appropriate concern level for when it doesn't go off on its own, or for when the event results in a stored code.
