Knock Sensor Service Engine Soon Code - Some Questions
Knock Sensor Service Engine Soon Code - Some Questions
I just had the head replaced on my '02 Cooper and had the "Service Engine Soon" light come on on my first highway trip. Turned out it was P0326 "Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Range/Performance." A couple of questions for you mechanically inclined folk:
1. Does anything come to mind in replacing the head that could have led to the knock sensor issue?
2. Looks like the knock sensor itself is not an expensive part. How hard is it to replace? Have any of you run across a how-to?
Thanks.

I would "normally" agree, I've seen 2 bad knock sensors now in the last 2mo., this will be the 3rd........
On my '02, the knock sensor plugs into a connector to the right of the fuel rail, correct? There's nothing plugged in there now, so I assume the mechanic who installed the new head missed this on reassembly. I think I see the wire at the bottom of the intake manifold, but can't pull it up. Looks like the plug is stuck on something. Time for a return trip to the shop.
