Chirping Noise?

My Mini Chirps

Anybody have a diagnosis? This happens every time upon startup, and sometimes while driving. I have isolated the sound to the right rear quarter. I have done some research and the water pump was one possibility, but maybe it is something else. If anyone has a fix, I welcome it.

Cheers,

Might just be your belts slipping a tiny bit...

So is it rpm dependent? How old is your drive belt?

Once the car is warmed up does it stop?

It is not RPM dependent. Drive belt is original I believe (I am second owner). No mods to the car.

It does stop after about 30s, but can come randomly back while driving (still not RPM dependent).

That leak diagnosis pump from steve's linked thread sounds like it could be it.

Start simple...belt is old and slipping...next tensioner is bad...next something on the belt is going bad.

Just have someone check the belt out (I think replacing it would be my first step) While doing it, examine the tensioner and make sure it still tensions the belt.

Yes, I agree. Sounds like the closest thing so far. The video is EXACTLY the same noise...
