So i've recently been noticing that my car makes a bit of an odd noise. I hear the noise when im climbing hills in 2nd gear at around 2500 to 3k rpm. it sounds a bit like maybe my alternator is dying (the gauges have been stuttering on start up, the warning sign of a dying battery). It's probably coming from the accessory belt somewhere, it sounds like it's coming from there. car has 72k on it. I really hope its not the supercharger or the A/C compressor... those are $$$$... basically, the noise is kind of a mechanical whistling sort of noise, it sounds a bit like an electric motor brush brushing against some glazed metal. Its a slight noise, and is probably not noticeable to anyone not used to a MINI.
Ideas?

Your MINI only has one belt. Possibly it is slipping. You might want to check that out.

 

I used the wrong term, i was talking of the one belt! well the belt is pretty worn. I have a smaller supercharger pulley coming next week, and i will get a new belt when i install it/have it installed. I'm just trying to see what other possibilities there are.
