Limp Mode, no CEL?

This morning on my way to work, as I was getting on the interstate my car felt off. After a few seconds I figured it out. The car is in Limp Mode. It's not producing boost after 4k RPM. There isn't a yellow or red CEL lighting up.

Any ideas of what this could be? Any help is appreciated.

Nevermind, guys. I got it figured out.

Played with the OBC a little bit and reset the "Check Info" screen.

That was really weird.

Mods feel free to delete this thread.

I have no idea what's going on with my car. I made an appointment with the local Mini dealer for Monday.

But here are the symptoms that I am/was experiencing:

(Be advised that I had a new Alta cold air intake installed and I believe the filer was over oiled).

Car seems to loose boost pressure after appox. 4,000 RPM.

Boost is somewhat limited up until then, too. The car is quicker to accelerate if you shift before 3,500-4,000 RPM since the boost is still being kept up.

I left the negative terminal of the battery unplugged for about half an hour. Started the car back up, problem was there. After about 5 miles it went away, full power was available again. I'm guess that's roughly how long the computer takes to reset itself.

After about 30-40 miles, the boost issue would come back.

When this occurred I figured the filter was over oiled, so I took the MAF out. Cleaned the MAF by putting in a Ziploc bag with 91% rubbing alcohol.

Put the MAF back on, did the whole battery thing. Drive 5 miles, back in business. Drive 30-40 miles, boost issue back.

Removed intake, reinstalled the OEM air box, cleaned MAF, battery reset, drive 5 miles. Normal again.

The other day the CEL came on. Good news, the computer recognizes there is a problem, yay! Still, boost pressure is fine. Then today (after about 150-200 miles) CEL went off. That's cool, whatever. Drive about 100 miles. CEL back on, lost of boost again.

My bet is on my MAF.

I'm not sure about your problem, as my car does feel as if it's going to stall and I can easily go 80-90 MPH without again big problem (just can wind out each gear).

This just sucks because I've only owned the car for three weeks. Mine is an '07 MCS.

What is your location? Are you in an area with below freezing temperatures at night and during part of the day?

Yeah, and I'm in Southern California, so I know it's not the intake manifold freezing.

I'm almost positive that it's my diverter valve sticking.

I'm going to buy a replacement tomorrow.

I'll update tomorrow/later on this week, depending on if I have to order the part or not.

Hey, man.

This was the first car I really modified and learned to work on.

my issue ended up being the turbo intake tube (intake to the turbo) was too loose after installing my stupid intake.

Over the next few weeks it got really loose and the rubber donut to make the tube smaller got eaten by the turbo.

check all your intake and boost hoses.
