I'm always up for helping someone out, and having a good laugh or two while I'm at it.

Food for thought, for the trolls and the insane bunch: Twurbo, twin charged, etc. Lot more than $5k to get right and not to mention the reliability...

Keep in mind that the Lancia S4 rally car had this setup, and if you don't know how that car ended, look it up on the wiki. It produced 600+hp from a 1.75L engine, which is roughly what you'd get with a stroked 1.6L I believe. Oh, and it was AWD with a full roll cage. Oh, and it wasn't exactly street legal. I'd hate to pass an emissions test in it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancia_S4

From the best of my knowledge there havent been many turbo converted R50/53 that ever really lasted long. And the ones that did, spent as much or close to the cost (NEW COST) of the car just on the engine(s) when all was said and done.

ahh another great thread
However i think the OP should know that the people that are posting, and the ones that are just reading and laughing, actually do and will help you, you just need to get some facts straight and do some homework yourself before listing some stuff. NAM is a great source of information and WAY, Dicks, volgas and hrm really know there stuff. So dont take all this the wrong way

with that said ill eat 2 turbos if he achieves this

I think I have a spare 16G somewhere that I can donate for all the turbo munching, and a good tounge wash is good for geting rid of all this mag-chloride they use on the roads here.

I have a NEW Alta Twurbo Kit for sale.
This is the one the Alta designed and built for the R53.
It is not a twin turbo, it is a Garrett GT3071R.
I have all the parts to bolt right on.
The header, downpipe, bov, tubing, actuator, hoses, restrictor, etc.
If you really want to fix up a sleeper, here you go.
Contact me via PM.

Yep, it's gonna cost way more than 5000 dollars to make that much HP AND keep the thing alive and going down the road. Yes, you could make that much, or more, and only spend 5000 dollars. However, the engine, to say nothing of the rest of the drive train, won't last long.

And start with the S motor. Geez.

And get a 05 - 06 Getrag (no LSD) and install a Quaife LSD.

You'll also need a race quality clutch, heavy duty CV joints and axles, etc.

Etc., etc., etc.

If you think your going to get some of this stuff done for around 5k thats insane. To get the car to around 2k lbs, and everything else your looking at $30k+ total.

P.S. WRONG SECTION NEWBIE

actually I built a 2.0l that made 565hp back in 06

To be clear about my goals for my car I'll break it down for you guys.
-Carbon Fiber Doors, Hatch, Hood, Fenders
-Sway & Strut bars, Roll Cage and Speedglass replacements to drop weight
-Wilwood Brakes, accompanied with pro race 1.2s 215/40/17 not too wide
-Megan Racing coilovers with a subtle drop of only 1inch. Adj Control arms
-Short shifter & recaro seats
-Mini cooper s bumper with ground effects, Halo on lights Halo Fog lights and Halo headlights. All HID.
-Battery relocation to behind Passenger seat. AC removal.
I want to weigh under 2000lbs and be putting down 300lbs of tq. So anywhere between 300-350hp based on the quality of tuning. I already have a turbo kit with a HUGE turbo that bolts right on. The only engine bay issue would be the battery due to the kit size but thats solved. So the problem would be simple! My engine haha. Okay then, how's this sound! r50 to r56 engine swap? I pick up a r56tubro engine and send it to a shop and have the engine and transmission built and tuned, then all in one big swoop swap it into my r50. Repaint the carbon fiber and look fairly stock and walk around with a big grin =D I tend to favor the sleepers
I think you should have done more research before you started buying stuff. I also don't think your shop is doing much to help you. You might really want to re-evaluate your goals....

Exactly.

Do yourself a favor and give Jan a call at RMW and discuss your goals with him before spending anymore money...... I just have to suspect anyone that said they could deliver what they said......much less for that amount of money. The simple fact that they told you they would just bore it out to a 2.0 tells me they have little to no experience with the Mini engine. 2cents
