sun roof issue

I'm new to this forum as well as my mini. I'm getting the idea there is an issue with the sun roofs, mine seems to have wind noise at higher speeds, but is not as noticable when the weather is a little warmer. Took the min to the dealer and they didn't have a clear picture as they felt there was also some noise from the windscreen and it had been replace by a third party. I feel I can tell the difference and would like to look into the sun roof but would like to know it there is anything I should be looking for in particular.

Don't follow your comment about the third Party something.

My sunroof behaves exactly like you describe yours. Very frustrating. Cold weather seems to make the wind noise worse. It has been adjusted twice and had the seal replaced.

The windscreen had been replaced by a glass dealer...I do not know which one. If I were content driving at 60 mph there would not be much of a problem. I am concidering buying a new JCW this year and it will not have a sun roof so maybe I should just relax with the whole issue. But I know I can't.

I have a 09 JCW with a sunroof and I have no problems with it being noisy in the winter or summer. Sometimes It does get stuck while trying to open it in the summer when its hot out and I have to push up on the glass to get it to open.

I was in an accident where I was hit from behind and then pushed into the car in front of me. After the car was repaired and returned to me I noticed that air was leaking in from the sunroof at higher speeds. I brought the car back to the dealer as they did the accident repair and they fixed it. Perhpas you should find another dealer and have them adjust it.

I love the sunroof on these cars. I wouldn't have bought my car without the sunroof.

There are too many sunroof haters on NAM.

I bought my 2008 MCS used and my wife was the one that noticed the excessive wind noise, I just figured it was due to the shape of the car, lol. My sunroof also stuck when hot.

I took it to the dealership and they replaced the sunroof seal and adjusted the alignment, and since then there is much less wind noise and have not had an issue with them sticking.

Good luck!

The fact that that there's a difference in the way the sunroof performs in cold weather versus warmer weather suggests that proper lubrication might help (aside from the effect the collision had on the MINI). I had the same problem and greasing the track (dealership did this) solved my problem.

I'm with "onefish2" on this one: I love the sunroof on my JCW Clubbie; and so far, it's loved me back (no problems)!

Hi All,
Augie5 asked the year of the MINI..2009. I'm going to spend some time with the car in the morning jus looking at the tracks and seal to see if there is anything I can see. Please keep in mind the nerest dealer and also seems to be a very compenent dealer is right at 100 miles away. Not that I mind driving a few hundred miles but it is rt 80 in Pa.

I found the leak on my sunroof by sliding a business card around the gasket. It dropped into some gaps in a couple of places near the front the sunroof. After the adjustment, a business card will not slide in anywhere.

I have the same issue

I have the same frustrating issue, I think I will have to try adjust it myself.
Mini have already adjusted it but didnt fix the noise issue.
I had been toying with the idea of buying a deflector to see if that would cure the noise when closed.
Is it easy to adjust the sunroof?
